The life insurance policy he had taken out just weeks earlier meant her family could stay afloat during that difficult time. The experience shaped Stacy’s lifelong mission: to help families build financial security and protect what matters most.

Stacy Korsgaden is a nationally recognized insurance subject-matter expert who is running for California Insurance Commissioner. Korsgaden has held an active California Insurance license (#0750748) since 1988 and has spent more than 37 years helping families and small businesses navigate complex insurance policies, devastating losses, and an increasingly broken regulatory system. Insurance isn’t theoretical to her—it’s personal. Her career has been built one client at a time, through annual reviews, difficult claims, wildfire losses, and the long process of helping people rebuild their lives and livelihoods. She has navigated the marketplace and worked directly with regulators—experience no other candidate can match. Stacy built a full-service insurance agency from the ground up, servicing nearly 8,000 policies, and earning top national recognition for excellence in underwriting, production, and client service.

Korsgaden is running for Insurance Commissioner because California’s insurance market is in crisis and she has the experience needed to make a difference. Premiums are skyrocketing, coverage is disappearing, and families and small businesses are being squeezed by bureaucratic red tape, political mismanagement, and negligence that has driven insurers out of the state. Korsgaden has prepared a plan that restores competition, expands insurance options, lowers costs for working families, strengthens consumer protections and disaster response, and brings stability back to the market. Korsgaden’s leadership is grounded in experience, accountability, and a deep understanding of how insurance actually works in the real world. Korsgaden is on the Executive Board of the San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council. She has served on the executive leadership team of the Boys & Girls Club of South San Luis Obispo County and is also a former Chair of the South County Chamber of Commerce, and the Immediate Past President of her local Rotary Club.
